Thomas Holton

The Verve Photo is a place for upcoming documentary photographers. I have to say from time to time they feature young folks that promise a lot. Recently it was the case with Thomas Holton. I especially like the series on Gladys.

So, I have finally managed to put my hands on developed and scanned films taken with the Yashica 35 and the Canon 7. Not too much to say, still learing.

Photography and Technology

August 27, 2008

I really don’t have enough time to follow the photographic related technology. I know that Nikon D90 can do HD videos, that the MacBooks dont have backslash but fascinating display, that the D700 is the next thing on my To Buy list. But if you read this article, you will find out something more. Generally it is related to the Olympic games PJ and it is a good read.
Cheers,

this is just so great…

If you look throughout history, many reigning countries and civilizations lasted for a long period of time. The main reason was the (no)possibility to quickly communicate, spread the news, infiltrate “own” people. The “divide et impera” process was hard and long.

Today, it’s a piece of cake. Money open every door. Money even change the way time is measured. Did you watch the 100m butterfly finals in Beijing? I did. And I could not believe that “hot shot sleazy duuude” won. It seemed impossible. Obvious was the fact that Milorad was the first to touch the wall with both hands. Couple of gentlemen created a web for this purpose only. Oh no. It’s not “being stupid, crazy and wasting time”. If major sharks can pay to change time, someone can use the power of information technogoly to spread the so obvious fact and provide additional data to support the argument.

Have any of the Americans ever wondered, why in the past decade everywhere they go (outside US) there is a vibe of “you are so dumb and brainwashed” feeling in the air? Well, not all are like that of course. Out of 300m you can find couple of species not belonging to that group.

This is one of the reasons. Stucking money in various butt holes, licking them afterwards. Huge companies “created the swimming legend” just to sell you a box of junk food! To make you buy swimming suit you’ll never fit in to (reason known to the whole world). And why on earth do we have to be a part of this theater? I would so much be voiting for an idea like “US olympic games – just come (and bring your cash)” , or “US olympics – we dont need those tight jeans wearing rednecks anyways”.

I’m not being mean. US atheletes returned 3/4 of the medals because they were part of dopping scandals. Some were even sentenced to jail!?! WTF?!? That does not makes me a mean person. That makes you cheaters.

And these are couple of reason why the rest of the world created the stereotype “all americans are stupid and fat”. I was in the US and I made many good friends. They don’t belong to that group. However, the machinery called US money makers melts everyone. The media brainwashing methods make no seletions. So the very basic core is practicly the same. It’s just the boob job that makes the difference ;)

Be good and stop cheating.

Manipulation?

August 18, 2008

War is cruel. No argue about that. And not only due to the fact that many people, innocent civilians and soldiers , die or are harmed by the actions. War has it’s political face as well. Some say Napoleon is a hero, some say he was a plain murderer. Some say Hitler was not as bad as he was pictured. I say he was a vicious murderer and I hope he will never ever be reborn with other name in another country. One was enough.
As I already mentioned, war is used for political matters. The best way to show the world what is going on in the battle field is the use of modern media : the one and only internet itself. Videos, photographs, written stories, witness statements etc. They are all brought to us by the internet (first hand information).

Some time ago, one of my favorite street photographers Chris Weeks wrote in his uber blog about photographers manipulating with photographs just to “bring the real picture” to the world. Here is one example, here is another one. Even a famous photograph of unnamed Russian photographer of Berlin was found to be manipulated. There was a Russian flag added to the shot.

Big story revealed. British reporters faked a picture. This brings us to the latest war affair, Georgia. Kicked the lion in the butt, got it’s leg in his jaws. No argue, that’s the way things work. A sort of natural flow. One would be fool to expect something else to happen. On the other hand, the great powers who rejected Georgia in NATO (my country Macedonia was also rejected due to nazi-like politics of greece) are jumping around like chicken in a boiling pot and threatening Russia with sanctions. Oh please.

So, back to the point. Someone analyzed the Reuters photos from the conflict. And, they most probably are fake, too. I just got this news, can’t say anything. You make a decision for yourself.

For the record, I’m on noones side. However cruel this might sound, the conflict can only help my country to get rid of the nationalistic greek politicians blocking Macedonia to get in the European family. Doors to NATO are closer than ever. I just fell sorry for the victims. The real ones.
